This is a wish for more love / features for the _distribute command (based on the current mac behaviour) :
allow 0 (no spacing) and negative (overlap) input for spacing !
allow numeric input without selecting the Spacing option - similar to offset (this is not consistent with other commands)
“apply”-function without leaving the command, so it can be applied for x and y in one go.
… for sure there are more wishes for distribute - please add them below.
thanks, cheers - tom
currently not possible:
left spacing = 0
right spacing = -5.0

less sure about this one. I think I would rather have a preview function, so that you can interactively change to x, y, z, and change spacing.

@Gijs wow that was a fast reply - thanks.
Gijs:
have a preview function,
This would slow down the interaction… but it would make the tool more consistent with the other tools …and safer.
I agree a preview option would be needed. Count my vote for this feature.

Also I think it would make a lot of sense to have a GUI for this tool, Align and Distribute, like in Photo and vector editing apps.
Is it possible to set a gradual spacing, such like starting with 5 mm and then increase the spacing by 2,5 mm? Or, set a starting and ending spacing, then leave Rhino do the calculations for the intermediate gradual spacing between the rest objects.
Obviously, that requires 3 numerical values:
Initial spacing;
Either ending spacing…
… or Step increase/decrease.
The goal is to be able to set 5 mm starting spacing, then the next should be 7,5 mm (an increase of 2,5 mm for each pair of objects), then 10 mm, then 12,5 mm, then 15 mm etc…
This would be amazing, and will help graphics designer to enter the Rhino world.
To me it relate to BoxEdit.
Putting them together it may land into an extremely big window but it should work with the same logic.
