Where to find the list of objects

I’m sort of stumped. In older versions there was always a list of layer contents or objects showing which layer they were on and letting you move them to other layers.

I don’t see this in Rhino 6. Where did it go/how do I see what objects are on which layers???

Thanks

Hi @j111,

I think there used to be a couple of plugins that listed items by layer but afaik Rhino 4 and 5 didn’t have that capability built in. But here’s what you can do in R6 (apologies if I repeat stuff you already know!):

Rhino shows the layer of a selected object in the bar at the bottom of the screen. If you select multiple objects that happen to be in the same layer it shows the layer, otherwise it shows “Varies”. If yo have nothing selected, it shows the current layer.

Generally you identify an object’s layer by the colour it is drawn in in wireframe, shaded, x-ray and similar views.

You can change a layer’s colour by clicking on the small red square in the Layer Panel.

To select all the objects in a specific layer you right click on that layer in the Layer Panel and click on Select Objects from the dropdown menu.

If you don’t see the Layers Panel, you can open it from the Panels menu:
Layer%20d

Hope that helps
Jeremy
