What is the meaning of 'utilization' in Karamba 3D?

As a new user of Karamba 3D, I trying to perform non-linear analysis to study buckling failures in some beam structures. I have to assess the stresses and I know that using ‘Utilization of elements’ for beam-based simulations, would provide this information. However, I am not completely clear regarding the meaning of ‘utilization’ here and how does it relate to stresses. Any explanations would help!

Hi, you can refer to 3.6.6: Utilization of Elements 🔷 - Karamba3D 1.3.3 on information on the Utilization in Karamba.

but in the page you showed still doesn’t explain the number of utilization bigger the better or smaller the better…

Utilization is typically represented as a percentage where 1 = 100%.

A number greater than 1 is bad (beam overstressed).

A number less than 1 is good (beam capacity is sufficient for loads imposed) where 0.5 = 50% of the capacity of a given member is being utilized.
