hi all,
i calculated volume of a piece. it was 1296.46356 (+/- 1e-06) cubic millimeters which is 17g in 14k gold. but the gold casting came out in 8g.
i don’t know what is the problem…
anyone has the same issue?

Hello - I’d expect about 18 as well at 14g/cc. Is the casting free of voids, can you tell?

It is possible to create a model which has overlapping spaces so that the calculated volume is too high.
Two examples:
Volume Wrong DC01.3dm (6.4 MB)
i have no idea… because other castings i didn’t make come out similar weights as they expected. is that possible to happen in wax printing?
bezel cut eternity ring.stl (2.0 MB)
please review my file. it came out in 8g 14K gold
Hello - if possible, please post the Rhino file, or send to tech@mcneel.com with a link back here in your comments,
