To my understanding, the current state of things is quite far from the happy end. The hard-coded edges’ thickness is kind of plug with no active development (at least no visual results), according to This.
Personally I think, ClippingDrawings is just an upgraded version of Make2D. It is still not so reliable in terms of connection to the 3D data.
If Team could forward more efforts on the real-time geometry sectioning with direct output to the layout (with linetypes, lineweights etc.), just a few people would need Make2D or Clipping Drawing functionality, as an extra step of the pipeline. Most would use direct clipping sections for drafting.
The Team shows great improvements in modeling tools development, no questions, but reliable drafting is still a pending item.
