Unroll Srf

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to unroll some surfaces so as to make patterns to sew, but I am having trouble with the tools at my disposal:

So the command _UnrollSrf says this:

Moreover, _Squish gives me results considerably smaller than needed.

I do not quite understand it. Could somebody help me, please? Maybe there is another tool I am not aware of.

Thank you in advance  :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@Lucia_rodriguez Your shapes are not developable. A surface must be developable to be flattened or unrolled without deformation. A piece of paper can be fitted to surface which is developable without folding or tearing the paper.

Squish has options for how a shape is deformed as it is flattened. Experiment with the options to determine which work best for your needs.

Those aren’t developable surfaces, and I don’t think trying to ‘unroll’ them is even the right approach to trying to pattern it. It’s much more of a “professional judgement” thing, i.e. trial and error. Once surfaces start getting stretched or squished all bets are off for what the input and output could be…well just look up actual 3D->2D patterning software and the prices are “call for a quote”…
