Tips & Tricks for a Smoother Rhino Workflow

@Rhino_Bulgaria Hello very nice custom render for modeling, can you explain a little bit more your Custom light line effect? Do you use the light parameter setting with 5 lights in 5 direction and 5 colors for this? Thank you

navigation should be first prio and i think single chars are ok but keep it simple, like:

z = zoomselected (i know theres a zs, but i use it ALL THE TIME, so…)
cw = cplane world top
cpo = cplane object
etc

and for hot keys i really like the stuff I change during mid-command. Like:
Ctrl + T: Toggle planar projection (beneficial mid-command like drawing a polyline etc)
Ctrl + R: Toggle snap to locked

And i extended the displaymodes switching:
ctrl+alt + s = shaded (default)
ctrl+alt + w = wireframe (default)
ctrl+alt + a = arctic with lines
ctrl+shift + s = shaded b/w
ctrl+shift + w = wireframe b/w
etc

And then secondary for commands i have an alias following the autocad shortcuts:
pl = polyline
x = explode
etc.

Hi, that particular display mode is simply using a basic environment map which I created to evaluate the surface quality without the need to rely on the Zebra analysis. In fact, I rarely use Zebra since then.

Great tips everyone! I just produced my favorite Top 10 | Tips & Tricks: Rhino Setup Mods, for those of us that teach first-time Rhino students how to customize Rhino. I’m a big fan of 1-pagers and will be creating more of these over time. Enjoy!

Just discovered a neat trick…Double clicking a curve will chain select attached curves that aren’t joined.

@NickB I was looking at this trick, and from what I’ve seen, if there are multiple curves that are not joined but maintain G1 continuity, the entire curve chain gets selected, whereas where the curve is G0, it won’t be selected.
