Sorry if I didn’t express myself correctly but by example I meant a software example. I’m not really sure if I could help you but knowing exactly what you are after might help answer your question.

You might consider Z88 Aurora: http://en.z88.de/thermal-fem/
It is freeware from the uni Bayreuth. It can perform steady state thermal analysis. I have used it for structural calcs. It has an excellent support forum. It can read STEP, DXF, STL and FE formats. It is standalone, not a plugin for Rhino.
