Sub-D loft not working (but works on same model in 8)

The Sub-D loft not working in version 9 (9.0.26209.18303, 2026-07-28)

I can get it to loft in version 8 without any issue using the same curves. Three curves all with the same number of points. It does not produce an error, it simply allows me to select the curves, make selections in the dialog box, and hit “Okay”. The just sends me back to an empty “Command:” line.

Any thoughts?

Post a .3dm file with curves which don’t work as input to SubD loft in V9 Beta.

Have you tested the exact same file in V8 and V9 Beta?

I’ve tried it in both v9 and v8. I could get it to work in v8, but not v9. I’ve attached two files (v8 and v9) for reference.

SubD Loft v9.3dm (1.0 MB)

SubD Loft v8.3dm (966.0 KB)

I opened the “v8” version of the file in V9 Beta and SubDLoft works with a result which looks the same as when I opened the same file in V8.

SubDLoft does not work with the curves in the “v9” version of the file does not work in V9 Beta. The behavior was the same as you described:

I saved the “v9” version as a V8 file and it works in V8, but not in V9 Beta.
SubD Loft v9 V8.3dm (1.0 MB)

Someone from McNeel should look into this. @dale @Gijs @theoutside @scottd

You’re using loft. Sub-D loft is the one that doesn’t work. I can get the loft command in the Surface tools toolbar to work, its the loft command in the SubD tools toolbar that I can’t get to work. Below you can see v8 produced the loft and lets me select options. The v9 version does not produce the loft but it lets me check options in the dialog box.

Hi @davidcockey,

I’ve logged the issue so we can dig into this.

Thanks,

– Dale
