Smoothing a surface

Hello
I am new to Rhino and have been accustomed to a Civil 3D workflow so much of the tools here are new to me.

I am wanting to design and build some boats and had hoped to avail of Orca yet I need to become proficient in rhino first.

I have started with a simple dory , a 16’ flat bottom boat (in Rhino) . I designed the bottom and offset the side arc to get the width and height of the gunwales . Using the gunwale and bottom arc I created a side that was mirrored.
I began to fit timber frames (1 1/8" wide) to the inside and where they protruded through the side surface I used the trim command.

I am seeing deformations in the surface and I do not know how to remedy the undulations in the surface.

Can someone recommend a method to smooth the surface where the timbers were trimmed to the surface?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Paul

Without a file, there is not so much anyone could do to help you…

Did you trim the timber’s by the inside surface or the outside. Could it be the trimmed inside surfaces just showing through?-Mark

As you can see I am not familiar with the workflow of this program. I copied and cut the dory at the timbers to give me a surface to match the arc. I bet there is a better way to do this.

Thanks for your input, it is kindly appreciated.

I used the outside of the surface / side. Is there a thickness setting for the surface?

Thanks for your input

Yes there is a thickness setting.I think it is Offsetsrf.
I guess I misunderstood what you wrote earlier. I thought you had offset the sides.
To get back to your question. What happens if you hide the internal timber surfaces? Does the exterior surface look ok then? If so, then it could be just the trimmed surfaces showing. I am not by a computer at the moment, but will look at your file.—Mark
