(simple) Attractor Curve has a weird effect on my pattern

Hello there

I am struggeling to get my pattern to work because grasshopper is acting weird ( i know it is me and not the software)-but i just cant explain why its behaving the way it does.
I want to create a rather simple pattern of crosses, that only get bigger when very close to the circle.
The attractor surface works as intented, but somehow the pattern is vertically acting differently than horizontally (see image below)

When looking at my grasshopper, there shouldnt be a difference between the crosses on top of the circel compared to the ones next to it. But why is it like this?

And while im already here, i tried many things to only affect the crosses that are very close to the circle, any quick tip on how to do this? (so that the crosses are the same size, but only the ones very close to it are affected)

Thanks in advance
