ShapeMap will automatically update if you install it via PackageManager. Alternatively, you can manually install it by clicking the linke below,

  1. Fixed incorrect normal calculations that occurred when unfolding certain geometric objects.
  2. Added a Symmetry option to the ShapeSolver component, now supporting symmetric objects.

Wow new version! Is there support for Mac now? :folded_hands:

Thanks very much for sharing this great tool. I was able to try it on windows and it work very well.

Also, I had some questions:

  1. is there a comparison to stuff like smorph for one-patch surfaces? it seems shapemap has less distortion (e.g. compared to when you map some uniform hexagons onto a surface of curvature with smorph)
  2. it seems right now the ‘topology’ of the target domain needs to be homeomorphic to disk (e.g. might not work directly if it’s like a ring or like a closed volume/doughnut)–is there like a mathematical reason for this? (I’m thinking maybe some ‘boundary condition’?)

Thanks again :handshake: :handshake:

The operation of ShapMap is more similar to Squish + SquishBack. It first faltterns a 3D object into a plane, then arranges curved patterns on the flattended object, and finally remaps these patterns onto the 3D object.

Yes, you are right, this is its limitation - it cannot properly handle fully encloused objects.
