Hi Joel, Revit in Rhino will always be in the project coordinates, if you want to use a Survey Point you can switch that in the Spot Elevation Type
Hi Japhy,
Good day, is there a way I can position my spot coordinate in a
proper space for a good presentation? having the leader and the
shoulder displayed as per my attached image?
And other question is, how can I exposed the other type
of spot coordinate and select the preferred family type?

Thank you,
Joel
Thanks Japhy, I can see it now, thanks.
Hi Japhy,
How can I move the spot coordinates away? thanks.
Thank you Mohamed, can you elaborate a little bit? thanks mate.
So I wasn’t totally clear… so what I meant is you can use the input point references as the origin for you Shoulder and Elbow Points transformations by creating vectors as shown below.
For the component “Add Spot Coordinate” the head Location is equivalent to the shoulder point in the component “Annotation Leaders” (I believe you cannot adjust the Elbow point without using this one).
Hope the below snip explains better… if you still have doubts please ask.

Thanks Mohamed, yes I need to know those setout of the leader and shoulder so that I can position them nicely without doing manual as possible.
Cheers for sharing this.
I have a question about “Add spot elevation” component. It seems like it is still bugged and cannot take a reference.
I’m uploading a picture here for I how I expect this component to work:
The only thing that works is if I manually pick a point referenced to Revit using the “Point” (revit) component. I assume that the problem is obvious: any change to the floor makes me manually pick a “Point” of reference to the floor I updated. Same problem with walls elevation and etc…
Is there a way around it until the problem is fixed? something like creating DB.XYZ and referencing it to floor via Python or C#?
Hope for some help, Or ![]()
Somehow it works only for a 3d view and sections. I cannot make it work in floor plans or anything else…
Why is that?
Hi @Japhy @M.Tarabishy I am not able to create spot elevations for structural columns at the top of its face in plan view.
Below I have tried it in all ways but not working. Can you please take a look
Hi Shashank,
The Revit dimensions require a valid point from the Element available in the view.
One thing you can try is to manually dimension and then use the Dimension References component to see what sub Element is referring to.
Not all edges & faces are going to be Valid for that particular view.
If you suspect there is an issue or have further questions please post a small example. Thanks
Hi @Japhy ! I think I got quite interesting observation I want to share or maybe I just dont understand something, maybe you could explain.
So using Revit 2022 I was trying to place Spot Elevations on the Linked Topography, however I had no success, I just keep recieving that Error occured while trying to create Spot Elevation.
Then I found this topic and tried to keep closer attantion to the references I input, all the tries with refertencing linked Topography had no success, so I got the Idea to project the points where I want my Spot elevations to be into a Topography’s Element Geometry (Mesh) in GH and to create the as Points in Revit and then use these Points as References for Spot Elevations.
However when I create the DirectShape Points I got the same issue with Spot Elevation Component. So I tried to manually place Spot Elevation to one of those points to see the reference and what I found is that once the Spot Elev is manually placed the reference it gets is the “Revit Element” with ID the same as “Revit Direct Shape”… So I guess here might be the issue. I’m not sure why I can manually place the Spot elecation on these points , but can’t do the same using RiR. Maybe you could help me to understand this? ![]()
Thank you!
I’ll do some testing. What version of Revit & Rhino are you working in?

Hi @Japhy ! Sorry for the late reply, I’m using the Revit 2022.1 and Rhino (See screenshot)

In the attachments you will find the RVT, GH file with replicated mentioned issue with DirectShape points that I try to use as references for Spot elevation annotations. In script you can see that after I generate DS Points I cannot use them as reference for Add Spot Elevation component, I can add Spot Elev. manually though. And then when I look at their references it says DS Point becomes Graphical element…
So I wonder if there is the way to convert the DS Points to Graphical Element in GH and use that as input to Add Spot Elevation component? I dont quite understand the logics of why the DS point converts to Graphical element and how to achieve that in GH. However i’ve found that quite interesting to share ![]()
