Rhino Certification

Hello,

I was curious about the certification for rhino. I am UK based and have already made video tutorial for industrial designers, and I teach from time to time rhino to companies, and I was wondering if it was worth it to get certified, what advantages does it provides?

Thanks,

Paul

H Paul,

Thanks for asking. You will find general information here and to your specific McNeel region here. The typical reasons for testing are listed there.

I heard a new one yesterday from a university that offers “micro” certifications to students and their employers that will be using the testing. It can be used for states that required computerized testing and can be used in secure proctor mode or as remote testing.

Some regions offer discounted testing bundles available Authorized Rhino Training Centers (ARTC) called bundles and a years subscription for accredited schools called an ARP. Ask the testing lead in your region about these options.

We are in the process of formulating a Grasshopper certification and a Rhino 7 Endorsement that includes the new features like SubD.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks for your answer, I emailed the person in charge in the EU certifications and wait for there answer regarding cost and process but my question was more about what does the certification brings if you’re teaching rhino.
From my understanding the main point of being certified is having some visibility via the official rhino website? but are people looking for rhino course (live and recorded) actually goes through you’re website? (there is no metrics about it on rhino website so it’s hard to tell)

  1. It is advantageous to include certifications in your LinkedIn profile.
  2. You’ll be an approved trainer if you pass the Level 2 exam and complete a few other conditions (not sure about Level 1).

Official credentials are usually more valuable than other qualifications, like those from tutoring groups.

Hi @paul_duterque
ART Authorized Rhino Trainer is separate from the user Certifications.

Anyone can teach Rhino, but only ARTs go through a rigorous certification and get a portal to add their classes to our Learn web page
However, the Level 2 Certification is required for the ART, so the do intersect.

The details are on the EU page and there are study guides for both Level 1 & Level 2.
Scroll down to:

The test as well as the study guide and it is based on the Level 1 & 2 Curriculum that is available inside Rhino on the Tutorials panel.
Tutorials panel
The courses are here, and our ARTs do training custom, online and classroom. Look for those the use the Level 1 and Level 2 termanology.

@delia will get back to your next week. The EU office is closed for the Easter holiday now.
She can answer any of these questions and give you the specifics about your region.

Hi @anon66739973 ,

Yes that is one. Right now Certified users are adding the certification manually.
It turns out than automated link between our test system and an application that will create those LinkedIn badges is quite expensive. We are looking into possibly writing our own, but that can be problematic and time consuming to support. If we go this route, the testing cost, may increase. Maybe it is worth it, I know this is a popular request.

The primary reasons for certification are on the Certification web page , but users have additional reasons to get certified as well.
.

Send specific question to the lead in your region.

There are few more requirements for an ART , such as an “attendance required” online ART candidates training and a final project. Passing the Level 2 Certification is a requirement for ART as well. Pick on Region Specific Requirements on that page.

Your region lead for Certification testing and ART can answer any specific questions for you.

It would be great if there was a Level 3 certification that focused on surface modeling or difficult modeling challenges.

HI,
Thanks for bringing this up Paul,

It seems physical attendance is no longer required ?
I am based in Australia so travelling to the USA has always put me off getting my ART certification.
I have been using Rhino for over 20 years.

From the McNeel webpage …
""Attend the Training for new ARTs. Instruction provided McNeel staff trainers.

  • 20 hrs. online course (Five - 4 hour sessions ), 9AM-1PM Pacific Time (Seattle).
  • Attendance required. “”

Right, we’ve been doing these on line - including some Autralian students, getting up at some ungodly hour. Sooner you than me, I say.

Thank you Pascal !
That is great news.
Cheers,
Mike.
