Wish: Ability to use animated textures and animated GIFs as environment maps for the display modes.
That would be cool
Did you know you can use the commandline for this? For example if you draw a line from midpoint you can type 45/2 and get your 45 units long line
Thank you. Yes I did know that. Still, someone very helpful on this forum (can’t remember who - edit it was [Jarek], years ago, gave me this script to create a icon in my toolbar for putting in the total results without having to do the math. Since I use it multiple times a day in my work, it’s been a real time saver when I am doing things on the clock. A option in the Commandline that stays put for all “from Midpoint” commands during the session would be even better.
Guys, the new advanced rotate around (selected, mouse…) options do not work with middle click… ![]()
They work with normal right click navigation… (rhino wip)
I see that, thanks
RH-88495 Middle mouse rotate doesn’t work with advanced options
Possibly a limitation and not a bug, but edge softening is not working as expected on solids with differently colored faces. So if you take a box and apply a different color to one of the faces, the color will not be respected if edge softening is enabled.
Edit: same with displacement enabled…
gumball direct dimension scale1D
is it possible to scale1D to a certain value with the gumball? not with factor.
Scale1D numeric entry: click
to enter values, for example 200 mm. If the gumball is in the Mid, you could also enter e.g. 200/2. Or move the gumball to one end and then enter the desired dimension.
if not, this would be a great improvement if it were made possible.
Especially for Scale3D, however, factor should be additional retained.

direct input of scale1D dimensions via the gumball would be much faster than calling up the scale 1D command first, then defining the base point and then defining the first and then the second reference point.
works for cube and else?
works for cubes and everything else. a cube or rectangle can also be a bounding box.
or what advantage does the factor input have, apart from if I want to do a 1:10 scaling, for example? but then I usually do that with scale3D.
Is this the official Rhino 9 wish list thread?! ![]()
I would like to add color coding in the layer panel. Or at least something more limited like Photoshop with a 6 or 8 color pallete.
Hi John -
There is no such thing and throwing everything into a single thread just makes it impossible to keep track…
That feature request was put on a list as RR118339 in 2012 but contains personal information.
I’ve added your post to RH-43252 Color coding layer display - this is on the “Future” list…

Yes this is possible. Start dragging, hold and type the value.
Or click the square and type the value + unit, i.e. 100mm.
Can be that you need to relocate the gumball and the square, depending on what you have and want.
in case you know your inicial size (useful to have have BoxEdit docked) you can divide your desired lenght for the current lenght directly on the scale prompt. done.
Thanks for the reply. very good to know. it works very well, simply enter the unit of measurement.
Because Architecture sometimes has organic shapes we need proper tools to modify curved walls.
This is a very simple case where, within Rhino, you have to rebuild from scratch the geometry if you want to extend the curved wall or modify/delete arcs.
