Image files in the rendered display are showing up fine in the printing preview but when the saved image file is opened it is completely blank. The rendered display is also quite laggy in general. Any advice?

Could you post a 3dm file with an image that doesn’t print and the print settings that you are using?
Also, run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the output here.
