Rhino 8 Features for Architects

I know why you did get a 1-star review; someone was thinking that you have a “Free Model” that can be used by either a student to someone who is looking for a free design service. until they realized that the model you shared was aimed at researching Rhino and documenting your experience with it.

I think Rhino can be the best tool for single family residential projects especially for sole proprietors and smaller partnerships when you don’t need Revit / ACC deployments and you don’t work with heavy consultants who are BIM heavy. This is what I’m trying with my smaller projects where I’m aiming to introduce V8 earlier.
I have a building permit set scheduled next month, I’ll share my model with you once I’m done.

Thanks Tay! I might not be on R8 for a while yet. But actually while you’re here: Is it useable? I’m concerned about the PDF issues and also my hardware. For the later I suspect that general modelling requirements are about the same?

They are going to work on it shortly.
Everything else is compared to V7 if not better.
I’ll let you know when the PDF issues are resolved

Appreciate that!! I might even join in on the Beta testing if I can find some free time this week. I’ve been full AutoCAD for weeks now and dying to get back at it.

Beta testing is past. V8 was very quietly launched a few days ago although extensive work on improvements is still happening. You can download it for 90 day evaluation for free.

They’re getting my money no matter what hehe… So I’ll probably buy while the discount is available
My hope is that once the PDF issues are fixed I can skirt around any other issues.

Remember that you can have V7 and V8 open simultaneously on the same computer, and cut and paste data between them.

Thanks, same now that R8 is out. I have even more investigating to do.

In the case that somebody didn’t know, it’s possible to copy and paste objects between AutoCAD and Rhino.
This is awesome !

You can start with a 90-Day Evaluation and still can have time to upgrade during the promo period.
