Rhino 7 Trial Crashing when Selecting Text\Dimensions\Accessing Plug-ins Manager

My Rhino 7 Trial version crashes upon use for 5-10 mins. I am able to design and run commands with relative complexity and I do not think this is related to why it is crashing. Grasshopper works as well. I have noticed the problem most frequently occurs when I use commands related to Dimensions like Seldim and Dimaligned. Could it be a plug in I have installed or any other tools added on?

I’ve Included my systeminfo below

Hi -
I would start by updating Rhino to at least the current 7.5 service release or the 7.6 release candidate.
Apart from that, does it behave better when you disable the Fologram plug-in?
-wim

I have tried both options but the problem still persists. I think it is related to only selection of dimensions and text.

This is the error that comes up before the file crashes.

I think I have found a similar problem to mine but updating didn’t work for me - Help needed with crash editing text blocks or dimensions - Rhino / Rhino for Windows - McNeel Forum

Hello - is your Windows fully up to date?

@Alain - do you have any idea about the command line feedback in the in the screen shot above?

-Pascal

It looks like the font file is corrupt. You can probably fix it with the file checker tools that come with windows 10. Search for SFC and DISM in the microsoft help docs.
Does that help?

@pascal Yup, my Windows is updated to the latest version

@Alain Is this what you’re talking about? I shall try this.
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files (microsoft.com)

Update: No files seem to be corrupted - This is what I did -

C:\Windows\system32>DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Checkhealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.19041.844

Image Version: 10.0.19042.928

No component store corruption detected.
The operation completed successfully.

C:\Windows\system32>SFC /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I tried Re-installing Rhino but that hasn’t worked either

I tried disabling all my plugins, but now selecting the plugins tab in my options page makes my rhino crash as well…RhinoDotNetCrash.txt (18.3 KB)

Would anything in this article help?

@rajagemini698 - did you actually check for windows updates? This all sounds messy enough that I suspect some underlying system problem - like you do not have Citrix installed, for example, do you? Not that I expect that to affect dimensions but it does get its oar in a few places.

-Pascal

@pascal Yes, all windows updates are installed.

This is getting messy isn’t it xD.
I do not have citirix installed.

Hello - is the crash in Options specifically the plug-ins page or anything in Options, or?
@rajagemini698 - Wen Rhino crashes do you see UI to send us a crash report? If so, please send that.
Also, presumably the font, Arial, works from other applications, correct?

-Pascal

Update: The problem was fixed, not sure which of the following was the cause and hence what exactly was the solution but I suspect a Windows update. I uninstalled all recent windows updates and ran a soft reset on the laptop without deleting my data.
