Polycarbonate - Rhino Materials

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for a Polycarbonate material for Rhino but I cannot seem to find one anywhere. Preferably the material will be Semi-Transparent and reflective. I have a Mac so unfortunately cannot use rendering programs like Vray.

If there are no polycarbonate materials for rhino, is there a way to make my own? If so, how can I do that?

I have attached a few photos of the type of texture and look I am trying to achieve.

Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you!

In Rhino 7 you can do that with a Physically Based material and Raytraced / Rhino Render:

polycarbotest.3dm (4.8 MB)

This is a Physically Based material with subsurface scattering on, a tiny bit of metallic (although that isn’t strictly necessary), roughness turned all the way down, and clearcoat all the way up. Playing with the subsurface scattering color you can get different tints for the material:

Great, thank you!

Hi! I’m very new to rhino, but how do I tweak the subsurface to get a white tint? Right now its appearing as grey or black. Would very much appreciate some help!

Hard to say without a file to investigate.
