Orient 3d + Inverse Kinnematics

Is it possible to use inverse kinnematics for an orient 3d operation?
I would like to develop a pivot system with a series of hinges…and cannot seem to master the inverse kinnematics tree.

Please help.

More specifically, I have downloaded Bongo evaluation…and cannot seem to set up a IK operation of any sort…and more importantly, for a complex movement with multiple concurrent stages.
