Offsetting a polysurface fails in V7 but works in V6

I have a part that was supplied by our customer and I attempted to offset it to represent the material thickness (it’s a steel stamping and we are provided one side of material only). The offset value was 1.8mm. I waited and waited at the end of the day yesterday, and let it continue after I went home. When I came in this morning it was still trying to do the offset. There was no indication that Rhino was non-responsive. I had to kill the task to continue. I took that same part back to V6 and the offset was complete in less than 5 minutes.

Is there someone at McNeel that would like to analyze the part? I can’t post it on the forum for confidentially reasons.

Thanks,

Dan

Edit: I tried again this morning and let it run for about an hour and a half. It’s not going to offset.

Hi Dan - yeas, please send me the file.
RH-63009 OffsetSrf: never finishes with round corners

-Pascal

Just a follow-up in case anyone else runs across this. Setting the corner=sharp instead of corner=round made a big difference. I was able to offset the polysurface in 5 minutes. There seems to be an issue with the round option. Pascal knows.

Thanks,

Dan
