Don’t you think it is time to deploy an official MCP for Rhino and Grasshopper? Autodesk just released one for Fusion and I think McNeel should consider the same as soon as possible. There are some GitHub repos for that but using third party extensions not always the best solution.
I came here to ask about the same thing. Blender has it. Fusion has it. Even SketchUp has it. Why Rhino doesn’t?
Please develop that MCP for Claude Code. If not, my Claude Code will do that for you ![]()
I think it could be useful for developing tools if it will read console errors. It will also be useful for managing many layers in heavy CAD models with a complicated naming structure.
Placing objects don`t impress me much, but for some people it also could be useful.
I think it could also filter and clear the CP structure in surfaces like manual surface sculpting, but I`m not sure of that
The fusion demo is impressive, the comments are leaning towards ‘gimmicky’
The MCP’s can certainly be helpful. There are a number of ways we are looking to improve how AI uses Rhino / Grasshopper, being more open source and providing accurate AI training resources for example (currently ai trains on a lot of iffy code at the moment)
Eventually that will likely evolve into an official mcp of sorts, things are moving quickly in that space and mcp might be obsolete soon.
I see. In a meeting two years ago, an attendee asked how AI and Rhino would be integrated and what the roadmap looked like, only to be told that no such work was planned yet. It’s good to know that, at the very least, progress is being made toward AI training. I suppose if we wait long enough, we won’t even need to use any programs anymore
