.Net Framework Plugin not working in Rhino 8

Can plugins targeting .Net Framework 4.8 work in Rhino 8 running under .Net Core? I thought the answer was no. But one of my plugins is targeting .Net Framework 4.8 and it works under Rhino running under .Net core.

Now another of my plugin, also targeting .Net Framework 4.8 does not work with Rhino 8 running under .Net core. It does not give any error but the commands just don’t work.

What am I missing? Why one plugin is working and another doesn’t?

I ran the Compat tool mentioned here. The output is
Wb.ModelEstablishment.Rhino, Version=1.1.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null

I’m assuming “doesn’t work” means Rhino 8 will not load it, correct?

If you modify the project to build against .NET 7, do you get errors?

<TargetFrameworks>net7.0;net48</TargetFrameworks>

Where can we find the plug-in that “doesn’t work”?

Thanks,

– Dale

Hi @dale,

Doesn’t work means, the plugin loads alright and there are no errors. But when I try any of the commands, nothing happens.

Modifying the project to build against .NET 7 would be complicated due other dependencies.

It is a plugin we develop in-house.

@Devang_Chauhan - can you pm me the plug-in?
