Morning English Tea

For a while, I have been trying to render tea. I have no idea why, but I was really fighting to get the colour of the tea itself correct. I think there may be a tinge bit of too much orange, but I am happy with the result.

Bella yet again provides amazing results, I think.

AmbientCG: PBRs for side surface and placemat
Polyhaven: HDRi map.

EDIT: I have updated the image to include the following:

  • Improved milk material properties (thanks @jdhill )
  • Improved interaction between tea liquid and cup
  • Slightly higher scattering for the cup ceramic

Many thanks. It is a terrible burden that we must carry in the UK, that beyond all other engineering and chemical standards; daily conformance to [BS] ISO 3103 is the most important achievement.

Sugar cubes - Rhino nature?

Yes, Martin.

The sugar is physically modelled as 400-micron crystal grains, and then scattered accordingly to a 58,000 element modified cube.

I think the milk looks a bit too white but the colour of the tea is spot on!

I have changed this in the new version of the scene. There is now a slight blue hue added too.
