Memory issues with mac os sequia and rhino3d 8

Hi everyone. I have been using Rio for years and have been using the same process since Rhino 5 and then 6 and then 8. All on Mac. I am having some slowness issue. I use Rhino to make stls for 3d printing model parts so all details are built out in nurbs. I got the latest version of Rhino 8 and after working a little and waiting for rainbow spinners, all my viewports go red

I ususally open files from a NAS drive so the projects are not on my computer. I have tried saving a copy locally and same thing. My projects tend to have multiple interations of the model grouped polyshapes, booleaned single polyshape, combined mesh. Lately as I work with these I will get rainbow spinners. So lots of waiting. After a while I see Rhino memory usage go up to 4.99 gb memory. Note I do not see any GPU processes under Rhino so Im assuming wither GPU is not working or its rolled up in Rhino process.

Also I see not respondng a lot of the time if I look at the force quit listing.

So I have been trying to track down the slowness. I have even used chat gpt and tried things like turning off shadows in render (looks bad) I have unchecked all the inport and exports I never use. Still I get red screens.

Machine info

processor “2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9”
graphics “AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4 GB & Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB”
memory “16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4”
Mac os “15.1”

and here is my rhino version “Version 8 (8.12.24282.07002, 2024-10-08)”

Also I will usually have google and firefox open as I am taking screen shots and uploading the screen shots to my store. I see google and firefox only using a coupe hundred megs and they seem to work fine while I wait for rhino.

So thoughts

Hi BW -

Did this slowness issue start when you updated macOS to Sequoia?
Or did it start happening when you installed Rhino 8.12?
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the output here.
