Make2D giving false results

I am trying to make a simple Make2D from the shown floorpan. I simply want the outlines of the specific floors as I want to engrave them in my laser cut version that I am preparing for. I am using Clipping Planes to get the view I want. I have generally had a lot of problems with Make2D in the process of making Floorplans - converting them to Adobe Illustrator files and so on. If anyone could shoot me in the direction of good video tutorials in this topic, that would be a big help.

Best, Oliver.

Hi Oliver, please post the file, or if it is confidential, send to tech@mcneel.com with a link back to this topic in your comments. Please also include the results from the SystemInfo command in Rhino, and clear a explanation indicating what you’re doing, and what is not working.

The file is unfortunately too big for both Email and upload here.

I am seeking to extract a Make2D of the polysurfaces I have created as the walls on the different floorpans. The 3D model consists of 4 different floors where I have created walls with Polysurfaces - ExtCurves. However, when I select the walls in Top view of the walls I want to create a Make2D from, it only creates some lines and leaves others. I do not understand why.

My system info is the following:

Hi Oliver - can you export the objects, and any relevant clipping planes to a new file and get a reasonably sized file? Use the Save small setting on the export.

-Pascal

Hello Pascal
I actually just exported the walls and then made a new Make2D in the new file, and now it turned out perfect. I still don’t understand why it does not work in the big file, but now I guess I know a work around. Can you maybe send me in the direction of some tutorials of how to use the Make2D command as well as clipping planes? Especially when you have multiple floors in an architectural model. That would be a big help.
Best, Oliver

Hi Oliver - if there are tutorials, I do not know of them, but it is perfectly possible that they exist. If I find anything I will post back.
In the meantime, as a test - in the large file, if you Isolate the objects to draw then Make2D, does it do the right things?
