Make an existing curve tangent to another existing curve

Hi there. I have read about 10 forum posts, and scoured youtube… but yet to find the answer. I have curve 1 and 3 in place. I put curve 2 in its approx place, as per image. What I would love to do now is just make curve 2 go tangent to curve 3!! (ideally with a couple of clicks) Even better… I would like to be able to adjust curve 2 afterwards without loosing it’s tangency to 3. (I don’t want to affect line 3, if possible)

I might be struggling because I am switching from 15 years of Alias… and this was one of the most basic operation in the program, and I used it all the time… I am loving rhino, but this so far is driving me nuts. Any help?? Cheers.

Hi Guy,

  • Match command can change the tangency / curvature between two curves
  • Aligning edit points can give the same result
  • Arc Start End Dir can draw and arc tangent (The dir has to be the same as the line at start)
  • Conic Tangent

You can also make a Blend Curve or a Fillet… or you can make a circle Tan Tan and after that split curves.

Hi Lucio… Thank you for taking the time.!! Match is exactly the command - especially with history on.

I’ll try out the other commands later.

Cheers! Brilliant.
