Mac OS X 10.6.8 ...can I download a functional Rhino?

Can anyone tell me; is it possible to download a functional version of Rhino to my Mac OS X 10.6.8?
I have just started studying ceramics and need to learn Rhino …at school we use the PC version!

OS X 10.6.x is not supported. The minimum version is 10.7. See system requirements on http://www.rhino3d.com/mac

Is it in any way possible to get Rhino working if I upgrade the operating system?

Yes, Rhino will work if you upgrade to a later version OS X. You need to determine what versions of OS X will run on the Mac you have. Ask a Mac friend or take your Mac to an Apple store to find out.
