Lost my sidebars, now what?

Hi McNeel team,

Today I lost my sidebars. They are all gone. Any ideas how to bring them back (in Windows).

The latest beta from this week still has the same problem.

Hi Gustavo,

  1. Switch to another toolbar tab and back (the earlier version of this was transient), then restart Rhino if not.
  2. The new toolbar system keeps a backup next to each toolbar file — look in %AppData%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\9.0\UI for a .rui.bak alongside your .rui (i have default.rui + default.rui.bak here), close Rhino, and restore the backup over the current file.

If the sidebar is still empty after 1–2, zip your custom RUI files from that UI folder and post/send them and i’ll take a look. Thanks

Greetings, I don’t think it is a toolbar issue. More likely a container issue. I have found that if I resize the container by pulling the edge toward the center of the screen slightly, the toolbar will show up again. Then just set the container border back where it was, and it works normally.

The sidebar is missing from all tabs.

How do I restore a backup?

I tried restoring by renaming, but both files seemed identical and gave equal results:

What I’ve found:

I ended up solving it by resetting the default toolbars and reopening my custom toolbars/tabs.

Greetings,

Your container seems to be gone.

Once you get it where it belongs, try ‘Lock Docked Containers’ - which is in a dropdown under the gear icon on the right edge of the screen toward the top. Might help?

My issue is that the container stays where it is locked, and holds nothing - is empty - until its border is moved, after which it populates correctly. Been this way since V9 went to Beta.
