When i click on the regular viewport the floating viewport hides behind, which is already comfortable and counterproductive but manageable by using the Mac Os shortcut to switch windows within one application.
But while editing the layer material for instance, the floating viewport gets inaccessible completely. a little work around is to use exposé.
