Joining meshes should/could combine materials?

Hi,

I’m thinking, since the introduction of Sub-object material assignments in Rhino 6, could it be possible to get this behaviour:

When joining two meshes having two different materials, have them still keep that separation in their subobjects, whether it’s faces or polygon groups or however it works.

Right now, the new combined mesh takes on one of the materials.

On the same note, it does not seems that sub-object-assigned materials (on a surface in a polysurface for example) get translated to poly selections when exporting an FBX. That would be very helpful aswell.

@pascal any progress on this? Would be great if it could be getting a little more priority for V8? Aren’t the face indices of breps implemented halfway by now (deduced from other posts involving Steve Baer)?

Hi Silvano -

RH-44331 and the item it depends on (RH-6957) aren’t currently on the v8 list, no.
