Is it possible to create a Colored Fade on an object for 3D Printing in color?

Hello all,

Shapeways has recently introduced a full color plastic that requires an object to have color already assigned to it. My question is, is Rhino 3D able to perform this task, or would I need to export the object to another program to accomplish this? I have been able to assign a solid color via Rhino and upload it via a .dea file and that worked well… but I would really love to be able to create a faded look.

Hi zildjian - I think exporting to vrml can do this- does shapeways take vrml files?

Zildjian,

You would need to create a material the gave the colour gradient effect you wanted, and then export as VRML like Pascal says.
