Including a Light in a Block Definition

I felt the need to post as one of the comments in the youtrack states:
“Unless we hear about this issue a lot, implementing this request has a low priority”

I’m trying to fill the quota for “a lot” and get this issue escalated to high priority because i’ve found an abundance of threads across this and the chaosgroup forums over the last 5-6 years…

Light objects in blocks

Thanks Andy for the clarification and the bug log. To Micha - the results are weird - sky is white, hidden places that never are exposed to light show up while others, that should be visible stay dark. Also, I found out that emitters only work with indirect Illumination, not with occlusion. As the project still will continue for some years, I hope Rhino 6 will be out with a new lighting approach best greetings and thanks Mischa

V-Ray Next Lights in Nested Blocks

Hi, is it possible to have eg a “Mesh Light” in a file where I save a model of a tubular light source, that I then insert into a “photostudio” 3DM as nested blocks? All the regular V-Ray Next materials import correctly, but lights do not. Perhaps this isn’t supported yet? Thanks for any cues, Duncan

Inserting a Block but losing my lights

Hi guys, So I’m trying to insert a light fixture which will be repeated multiple times but I can’t get the lights to insert with the block. They just disappear! This is driving me mad! Please help! I am using Rhino 5.0 with V-Ray Thanks in advance Troy

At the moment the only workaround for users wanting to instance multiple lighting objects is to use other applications like 3ds max
