How To Attach The Face of Multiple Flying Objects on any plan?

Hello,

I have modelled the Geodesic dome and have triangular surface around the sphere. Now i wanted to laser cut those tringle and for that i need to first lay all the triangles flat in one of the plan (XY). Is there any command that allow to select the all the randomly flying object with different angle and put them flatly on one of the plan xy or xz or yz.

Scripting, or better, Grasshopper.
Can you attach part of your project so we can talk about it less abstractly?

If you’re just speaking about re-orienting objects from one plane to another, here’s a quick pass in grasshopper.

  • Get sizes and count of objects to estimate the size and count of a ‘layout’ grid
  • Clean up the grid to match the input count
  • Get the source object planes, get target planes (XY at grid center in this case)
  • Orient the objects using the source planes and target planes.

If your objects aren’t planar, maybe use the face of a bounding box or something.

Hi Aakash - if the faces are all joined, UnrollSrf with Explode=Yes.

Hello guys, Thank you very much
for the response. I exactly wanted do what Bob Frederick is doing above but that file contains the some plugins. I was wondering where can I download that plugins? It does not show the name of the plugins as well so I cannot use food for rhino as well.

And here is the file just in case if anyone like to see.

Bob’s Grasshopper file was created on Rhino 8.
