How to add vector designs to an extrusion?

Hi everyone, I am pretty new to rhino, and I was wondering how to add vector designs to an extrusion.
Basically, I have 1/8 inch extrusions in the form of a box, but I want to add vector etchings and cuts to each side. How would I add more shapes and curves (vector designs) to the extrusions and then cut them out of the extrusion?

Hi Julia - it would be easier to aswer with a small example file. Basically, you draw or project the curves to the face of the box, apply some kind of profile to the curves - for example the Pipe command would make round section pipes around the curves- then BooleanDifference these from the box.
But any number of things could add complication or traps to this process - so better to post a file.
