I accidentally copy pasted my walls and a few polylines by accident, but I don’t want to go through and click and delete the “copy” for my entire building.
Is there a command that enables you to delete those accidental copies of the original?
I have an example of what I mean attached in the picture.
Instead of creating what seems like open extrusions as walls, I’d extrude as solids. This will make joining walls, cutting out door or window openings, etc. much more straightforward.
That actually sounds pretty interesting. Unfortunately, I have already done most of my walls, windows, and floors as extrusions and used “cap” to cover them. But I do think I could apply this from here on out.
I just a few additional questions as I really appreciate your detailed help.
what is a boolean union? Can it only be used when your curves are extruded as solids?
as for “mergeallcoplanar faces” I only have these two options below as shown in the images. which one is it?
Hi
MergeAllFaces. you can think of Faces as individual surfaces that are joined to other surfaces, [creating a polysurface].
And about Boolean union… Perhaps it will be best if you like to open the side Help panel, [click on the gear in the panels top right [at least on the Mac it is there] and select the help panel.
that way every command that you start will change that help panel to that command. in simplified terms: the boolean union will make one object from two objects [or more] that are overlapping,
A Boolean union is joining two or more intersecting, individual solid objects (left) into one (right), while deleting intersecting geometry parts. There are still other Boolean operatiions (cf. wiki).
Usually yes, because when a polysurface is open, Rhino is unable to determine where is outside and inside, which is necessary to determine where for instance two or more objects intersect.
You can trim, split, etc. open polysurfaces though, which is generally a slower approach, since there are more steps involved.
MergeAllCoplanarFaces was introduced in Rhino 7. Do you maybe have an older version?
