Grasshopper Scripts Every Architect should know_Part 1: Contouring

This is the 1st tutorial from a new series I’m working on. In this series, I will share Grasshopper scripts that are very commonly used in the Architectural design industry, and will show their different applications and how to apply them in your design.

If you haven’t yet come across PH Studio, you’re in for a real treat. It’s one of those rare architectural studios that genuinely wants to spread the word about Rhino 3D, and they’re doing it right. Not only do they share beautifully crafted tutorials, but they also generously provide free sample files to help you follow along. It’s the kind of thoughtful resource that makes learning feel exciting rather than overwhelming.

Their latest initiative is a beginner-friendly Rhino course tailored for architects. What’s refreshing is the hands-on, practice-first approach. Rather than drowning in tool descriptions, you learn by doing, step by step. The course is smartly divided into five key chapters: Massing, Facades, Landscape, Structure, and Rhino.Inside Revit. It’s a great structure that mirrors real-world workflows and makes the learning experience feel purposeful.

These tutorials are just the beginning, laying out the Rhino basics to help everyone get comfortable before diving into the good stuff. New tutorials are set to drop weekly, so it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I do have one small wish for their brilliant effort: that they consider replacing Revit with VisualARQ and Lands Design, keeping everything within the Rhino ecosystem would be a dream come true for many of us!

Honestly, whether you’re new to Rhino or just brushing up your skills, PH Studio is well worth a visit. Their passion for sharing knowledge is a breath of fresh air, more of this, please!
