GH Easter Egg - LolCat component

Digging trough Grasshopper’s default component assemblies today (wanted to know how does the Text Tag 3D component work under the hood) I ran into what seems like pretty legacy “easter egg” and thought I would share it with others

Say hello to LolCat.cs

You can search for #Oh noes! if you want to find it yourself.

The full string says:

“We’re sorry but Cheezburger.com
has changed their servers and
all the LolCat urls no longer work.”

My best guess is that the component was made to fetch LolCat image macros from Cheezburger.com and display them on canvas. Any Grasshopper veterans out there that remember this component ever working properly?

Would be nice to get some story behind this little nugget! @DavidRutten ? :cat:

Wild that we’ve been Lolcat-less for almost a decade:

Google ‘Cat’ or ‘Dog’ and click the icon.

I remember it was working around 2010. It showed a random lol at image in a canvas like the one on your screenshot.

Was put inactive as cheezburger changed the API. I’m sure that since that, maybe other APIs are now available.
