FlowAlongSrf Issues

Hi All,

I have an issue trying to apply a pattern of diamond shaped curves to a surface.

When I try to FlowAlongSrf, the command is not selecting the entire unrolled base surface but a small part of it. The command does apply the curve pattern to the correct orientation but does not flow along the whole surface.

Help appreciated!

Thanks,

Doug

Hi Doug - the target is a polysurface, FlowAlongSrf works on individual surfaces only. The workaround is to build a singl-surface target that closely approximates the target object and use that as the target. I’ll see if I can make you an example.

@doug_williams - see the attached file - I approximated the target object using curves that have been rebuilt to a high point count. That surface is trimmed off at the bottom, and flattened using UnrollSrfUV (which maintains the UV of the original) and then the lines are flowed from that to the temporary target.
To make sure they are within tolerance of the original target, hide or delete the temproary one and Pull the flowed curves to the real target - that will be a little messy because the surfaces will have valid 'pull results from curves on the opposite sides, so you’ll have to select the flowed curves that are right at the individual surface. It may not even be necessary.
