…where there is nothing else to group
Group command could be processed a 1000 times and therefore you have to press a 1000 times Ctrl+Shift+G to ungroup them.
Hope this makes sense. 
In the screenshot you see a sculpture our of cubes and they are already grouped into one object.
It’s more about peace of mind, when executing Rhino blindly with commands and aliases.
