1: I have seen a feature, where you can make blocks dynamic with grasshopper, sadly I couldn’t find out how to set it up and how it works. (Example: having a block of a door and wanting to change the angle of it being open, without editing into the block)
2: Is there a way I can have a block that always hase the same geometry but I can change the material and texture of the block? (Example my door is always supposed to have the same size, but needs to have different materials and colours for different rooms)
VisualARQ plugin has a similar feature. Native Rhino blocks are not dynamic, you would need to create separate blocks for different geometries.
You can set the internal geometry to be ByParent which would then inherit the from the layer, this would only work for a single material (only one parent)
I have sadly have so many bugs with visual arq that I stopped using is for commercial projects. I’m looking for this feature: I found it on the Rhino block description, but I can’t find out more about it.
But then all Block instance have the same texture right?
What version of VisualARQ were you using? Have you reported these issues? please write us to visualarq@asuni.com so we can help you with any bug or problem you may have. I also recommend you to keep VisualARQ up to date, since we fix several issues in each update, and some of yours might be fixed as well.
