When I try to open a grasshopper file via dragging and dropping to Grasshopper window it instantly causes Rhino to crash. It happens with every file, both downloaded or created locally. Opening the file via double clicking does not cause any problems and all files open.

Are you dragging into gh already started (which i did) or into Rhino itself?
Does this happen with a simple .gh file? Add a box, save file and give it a go please.
Are you running a lot of 3rd party Grasshopper addins? Are they all mac compatible?
Try starting Grasshopper with GrasshopperLoadOneByOne and say no to all 3rd party plugins
On my Mac(M1 MacMini) Rhino8 SR5 (8.5.24072.13002, 2024-03-12), dragging a gh file into GH’s Canvas causes crash too.
However, when I upgraded to version 8 (8.6.24074.01002, 2024-03-14), which is a service release candidate, the problem was solved.
It happens when dragging gh file into grasshopper canvas. I don’t have any 3rd party addons. Here’s the scenario:
Open a new Rhino file.
Launch Grasshopper.
Drag any gh file into Grasshopper.

I was getting that drag&drop crash as well but this appears to be fixed in the latest release.
