Distorting Grid from Irregular Grid Setup

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to distort a grid as seen in this video tutorial ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY4Byucrcpw ), starting from an irregular grid with varying distances between axes. However, when I attempt this, the resulting Nurbs curves appear quite different from what I expected.

Is it possible to achieve this distortion effect starting from an irregular grid setup, or am I simply wasting my time?

I’ve followed these steps:

Could someone advise if this approach is feasible, or if there’s a different method or tool I should be using to achieve this effect?

Thank you for your assistance!

I’ve been following this helpful forum post ( Constructing rectangular grid with irregular step sizes of grid cells - #7 by Joseph_Oster ) that guided me in creating a grid setup in Grasshopper. Now, I need to extract the points from this grid to proceed with a distortion effect. Could someone please guide me on how to extract these points effectively?

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  • I successfully created an irregular grid using Grasshopper with varying spacings between axes.
  • Now, I need to extract the points generated by this grid to apply a distortion effect.
  • How can I extract these points from Grasshopper to proceed with the distortion process?

Any advice or guidance on extracting and manipulating these points for distortion purposes would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help!

If you can, please include a copy of your rhino and grasshopper file, or embed your geometry in the grasshopper file and share here.

this is what i’ve been working on, tho I will upload a possible solution i’m working now

this last gh works fine for grid construction, tho I don’t know how to extract points to apply distortion to the grid
