Diamond grid surface - dormers

Hi all,

I am working on a building with a structural dome facade, the facade has triangular panels and the windows are essentially where there is no surface.

i need to somehow turn the top floor windows into dormer style windows,

i tried this with list item and moving the vector in z axis however no luck, Could anyone please help me with this, it would mean a lot.

ill attach my script,

Red bellow is a segment of the dome without any dormers yet.

If anyone does take the time to help me id appreciate it so much but you have to set 2 curves for the sweep inside rhino

here is a sketch to describe what im after

Please let me know if anyone can help

Best regards,

Geordy

And it looks like you didn’t internalize the two rail curves?

Hi Joseph,

I have the lunchbox plug in for the diamond grid on the surface, this make the triangles,

ill be honest I’m not sure what to do with the curves,

the reason i set them in rhino is because i have to make many different curve shapes ( its for an irregular building )

so in order to preview the result of the grasshopper script, you have to make 1 curve (in rhino) and then make another curve (in rhino) that’s around 15000mm higher in the z axis, then assign the 2 curves to the grasshopper cells

Did it make sense what i was trying to explain about the dormers?

Best regards,

Geordy

Hi Geordy -

When plug-ins are required in a Grasshopper definition, please always say so up-front so that other that don’t use that plug-in don’t unnecessarily spend time downloading the file and reading the task description.

No. You need to internalize the curves in the Grasshopper components. Right click → Internalise data.

Dear Wim,

Im very sorry, I didn’t understand this to be a rule however it makes perfect sense. i know for the future now.

I’m relatively new to the forum and grasshopper so its all a bit confusing,

here is the script with the curves internalized.

please let me know if anyone is able to help me

Or @Geordy could internalize the output of the lunchbox plugin, so those who don’t have it might be able to contribute toward a solution.

Thankyou for showing me how to internalize this, i didn’t know this was possible,

I have tried, is this what your after?

I’m aware the cells aren’t visible but wanted to make clear that on the right is the internalized data

Best Regards and i appreciate any time people are taking to have a look at this,

Hi All,

Has anyone Managed to understand how to manipulate the script to move the top windows into dormer type windows?

Best regards,
