Can't use queried layer to query objects? How load objects by layer?

wondering about tools in the R8 “Rhino” tab

it seems strange to me that this isn’t working:

How can I load objects from a layer, without the need to retype it’s name on the GH canvas?

I could extract the layer string from the cherry picker output, but that doesn’t look like a suggested workflow.

any clues appreciated!

The output of the cherry picker is a model layer and not a layer name. You would have to get the layer name from the model layer first to be able to use it as a filter

I get it and I also learned that it’s possible to collapse these nodes to hide their numerous unconnected in/outputs.

I find the new native tools a bit unintuitive though.

Having used EleFront for many years, I struggled quite a bit when I started using the new Grasshopper Rhino components. I think you just need to get familiar with the pass through style of the components and accept certain rules…
