Can Shapediver Export 3MF files?

Is it feasible to create an export for a .3MF formatted file using Shapediver?

Bambu Lab, leading 3d printer manufacturer, uses .3MF over other formats like .STL because it can add more info, such as filament color, and other printable configuration data. Is this a format that Shapediver has worked with other companies before?

At it’s heart, .3MF is a zipped file that includes a number of files and folders, including geometry that is similar to .STL. Anyone printing on a more advanced printer won’t need to do as much configuration if they are using this file format.

In theory, it seems like the Shapediver Zip tool should handle this - but I wanted to ask directly. Also, would this type of export be supported on the Designer plan?

Thanks,
Ben

The 3mf file format is one of the formats available for exports directly in Rhino. The ShapeDiver plugin supports it by means of the 3mf export attributes, which expose the same export options than Rhino does.

The resulting file is, however, a single file with the .3mf extension, and I am not aware of the zip file structure that you are mentioning in your post. Theoretically, if you know how to build this zip file, it would indeed be possible to export a zip archive from ShapeDiver with its contents, provided that all files in the archive are compatible for exporting with the plugin (see the list of support formats here).
