A bit of an odd one. I use Tracker PDF-Xchange printer. Printing from Rhino 8, the page size comes out incorrect - A5 instead of A3 or A4 instead of A2. Printing the same settings from Rhino 7 gives the correct page size, which suggests that it is Rhino 8 oddness, not the printer software.
Comparison in size between R8 and R7, both should be A3 (420x297)
The Rhino to PDF printer comes out the correct size from Rhino 8.
Any ideas why it is calling a paper size two sized down from what it should?
Thanks
Deri
Hi Deri
Can you try to check with different PDF software eg PDF creator. Just to double check if the issue lays in Rhinos code or software incompatibility. Cheers
Good point! I’ve checked using the Microsoft PDF printer, PDF creator free and the Rhino PDF printer. I’ve also checked printing from a layout. Results are:
Rhino PDF printer - all good and correct to size at A3 (420x297mm)
Microsoft PDF printer: Both viewport and layout print come out incorrect size (356x216mm, rather than the 420x297 they should be). Not sure what size that is?
Tracker PDF printer: Both viewport and layout come out undersize (210x148). This is 2 A sizes smaller (A5 size instead of A3).
PDF Creator free: Sheet is A3 sized, but both viewport and layout drawings are printed in Portrait rather than landscape and not at the correct size.
All show the correct preview in the printing dialogue. I printed to all the PDF printers from Rhino 7 and got normal expected results from all.
Thanks
Wow! You have put a lot of research into this! Thanks for the detailed answer. I had similar problem with PDF Creator in Revit. This must be some weird driver routine. I am no IT guy so probably can’t help you more.
I hope that Rhino PDF printer does it for you.
I wish you all the best with future pdf generation
@Deri_Jones thank you for the detailed report. I’ll see if I can repeat some of your findings between Rhino’s PDF and the Microsoft PDF printer and see if I can locate the issue, doing so may resolve the others as well (I just don’t have those).
@lucasmithsenise many fixes have gone into Rhino 8 SR6 in terms of 3rd party printers and sizes. Please try this version and let me know if you’re still seeing issues.
