Is it possible to bring objects with texture mapped materials into Revit using DirectShapes? I read this thread, but the situation seems more complex than mine.
I have simple boxes with an image mapped onto them. Previously, I have been been assigning existing Revit materials, but in this situation, I need to bring in the material from Rhino.
I’m inclined so say probably not, at least not at this time, it is on the feature request to go Rhino to Revit, currently its only Revit to Rhino for a direct texture transfer.
Also Revit materials are complex, and there are limitations on what you can do with materials and direct shapes.
@Japhy I understand this is a limitation. Do you know of any work arounds? If you had an object perfectly UV texture mapped in Rhino and needed to get it into Revit for Enscape vis, how would you do it?
I’m not familiar with the enscape workflows, i did find this nugget (not Revit related) in relation to getting UV mapping into Enscape.
“Extract the render mesh, export it as OBJ and reimport it. Now, the UV should be burned in to the mesh. If the Rhino viewport shows the right mapping than Enscape should render it.”
The UV mapping is a common complaint in various Revit imports/workflows
