Bottle o' beer

i actually have an architectural background, but since that is a neverending journey i keep myself afloat with jobs within my former profession. about 2 years ago i worked at a media office that provides photography or other images for local and international companies along graphic design etc. i was assigned to photograph the production sample for further use for advertising purposes, i ended up convincing the owner of the company to buy Rhino and make a 3d rendering instead. since i replaced an earlier guy that was pretty strong with C4D the challenge was on to match that and by accuracy of the actual bottle to even exceed it, i thankfully found a blueprint of the bottle and with some real life production samples i tried to match it to reality as close as possible.

unfortunately i can not show any finished results of course so these are some WIP prerenders.

the final result was also photoshoped eventually by a college due to the drops being a bit of a pain to get right. the image here are still 100% rhino. i didnt like the front lighting too much in the black image which was pretty close to being ready but that is what was decided inside our company, i also had to remove the fine bump for the glass which added too much realism, since it was not so much about realism here but what the customer is used to.

all modelled and rendered in Rhino, the dew drops on the bottle and the bubbles inside were done with grasshopper, everything is Nurbs except the embossed letters on the bottle, i tried by all means Nurbs but gave up due to lack of time, Subd made it possible to make the letters more natural in the given time frame after this process they got converted to Nurbs and filleted onto the bottle.

Nice work!
Lately I’ve been catching myself that a lot of things are easier to model than to mess around with textures. If we’re not making optimized models for games, we can afford NURBS bubbles, water drops, decals, etc.

I’m hoping for further development of Grasshopper components regarding texturing and other rendering related things.

Nice! I wanted to make a bottle last year, but never got around to it. This gives motivation.
