I recently upgraded from 7 to 8. I often use Boolean Difference, and I want to keep the parts. In 7, I hit ‘D’ to turn off “Delete Input” and that was that. In 8, if I do that, it ALSO creates an extra unchanged version of the original object. How do I turn that OFF? I do not want an extra copy of the old part.
In both Rhino 7 and Rhino 8, the workflow for the BooleanDifference operation remains unchanged. However, note that Rhino 8 supports recording history and introduces an additional DeleteCutters = Yes | No. Other than this, there are no differences. For more details, please refer to the instructions in the help documentation.
Okay…. and how do I turn off the extra unchanged copy of the part that is created when I turn off “Delete Input” in Rhino 8, that WASN’T created when I turned it off in Rhino 7?
Please try selecting DeleteInput = Yes and DeleteCutters = Yes when running the BooleanDifference command. If you’re still experiencing issues, could you please record a video of the process ( You can use the free tool ScreenToGif for recordiing.)? Alternatively, could you provide the model you are haveing problems with? Thank you.
So I have to do something different in Rhino 8 than I did in Rhino 7. That’s not unchanged. I guess now my question is why wasn’t the NEW behavior put on the NEW keyboard shortcut (E) and leave the original shortcut (D) behavior alone? Is there a way I can edit these shortcuts so I can swap them? We’re talking about overcoming years of muscle memory here.
